It’s starting to look like the OnePlus Nord won’t be launching in the US, but the next phone in its range can – and a potential leak may have just exposed this upcoming affordable handset.
This comes from an insider source that contradicts Android Central, who named the phone and provided information on numerous specifications. As with all smartphone leaks and pre-release information, take this with a grain of salt, and since we can’t validate Android Central’s source, we just have to tell you what they say.
Apparently this new phone is called the OnePlus Nord N10 5G. That’s a rather clumsy name, so it may change before launch. There’s no word on when the phone will debut, but Android Central suggests it could come shortly after the OnePlus 8T launch.
The price will likely be around $ 400 (around £ 310, AU $ 550), which seems slightly cheaper than the original Nord’s £ 379 (around $ 480, AU $ 680), although it’s hard to compare prices like that phone not to the US.
OnePlus Nord N10 5G specifications
Apparently, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 690 chipset, currently Qualcomm’s cheapest 5G processor. This will supposedly be accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Interestingly, the Nord N10 is also being tipped to have a 64MP quad camera setup, which will be a first for OnePlus, previously sticking to 48MP. The other cameras will likely be an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and two 2MP auxiliary sensors, possibly depth sensing and macro.
While the phone may be mid-range, it retains the Nord’s 90Hz refresh rate, at least according to the leak, on its 6.49-inch display with Full HD + resolution. We could see OnePlus go back to an LCD panel to keep costs down, a display technology it left with the OnePlus 2 in 2015.
The internal source paints a picture of a pretty impressive affordable phone, and we’re intrigued to see if it turns out to be true. However, if you want something cheaper, OnePlus apparently has yet another phone coming to the US soon that will cost even cheaper, codenamed the OnePlus Clover.
